Taste Test: Oat & Hemp Gelato from Wonderlab’s Doozy Pots

See what our crew thought of the vegan frozen dessert.

Wonderlab’s Doozy Pots are a dairy-free oat and hemp-based gelato reminiscent of old-world Italian gelato, without the saturated fat from dairy or coconut.

They sent their four flavors — Chocolate Mint Chip, Chocolate Raspberry Swirl, Banana Cinnamon Date Swirl, and Smooth Coffee — to us at Food Manufacturing to try.

The brand was founded by Kirsten Sutaria, a former “Flavor Guru” at Ben & Jerry’s who led the creation of their vegan products.

The brand name comes from Kirsten’s childhood nickname, "Doozy Pots," from the Italian “tu sei pazzo,” meaning, “you’re crazy.”

The product was a hit with our staff, with Banana Cinnamon Date Swirl as the unanimous favorite.

With organic and fair trade hemp ingredients, Doozy Pots contain no CBD or THC, and its cartons are made from a minimum 35% post-consumer recycled fibers.

Cleveland-based Doozy Pots has just gained major expansion, now available nationwide in 371 Sprouts markets, alongside West Coast specialty grocers Erewhon and Jimbo’s.
